A CV (or Curriculum Vitae ) is the most important initial means by which to get across to a potential employer what you have to offer and what you have achieved in the past. Good CV writing also ensures that Puregenie accurately assess your suitability for the types of online jobs that we are recruiting for, or are likely to be looking to fill for our online travel clients in the future. Below is a CV writing guide , to ensure you're presenting your achievements effectively.
You should ideally keep your CV to 2 pages. Remember while writing your CV that it should be a summary of your career and what you have to offer. It should not be going in to any depth, but focusing on the highlights of your experience and achievements. Keep it easy to read, short, and attractive. A sample Curriculum Vitae is at the bottom of the page, to demonstrate a good style.
There is no single correct or perfect method of CV writing , and to some extent it will depend on your personal preferred style. However, there are certain topics that a CV should cover, and to which we will refer to below (with a sample Curriculum Vitae written in a style that we feel is clear and poignant.)
Personal Details
These should include your name, address, e-mail address, and contact telephone numbers, nationality, eligibility to work in the UK/Europe, and driving licence if you have one.
Personal Profile
When CV writing , it's often a good idea to provide a brief summary about yourself, in terms of your key attributes, skills and preferences. This should be between 3 and 4 lines, i.e. kept brief. A sample of this Curriculum Vitae summery is provided below:
A business focused, degree educated, marketing professional with the ability to translate business strategy into tangible marketing solutions. A creative, yet analytical individual, with an impressive track record resulting in the delivery of successful online and offline marketing campaigns across Europe . Fluent in business French.
Career Experience
List the name of the company, your title and the dates that you worked there. If the company is not a well known brand then add a one liner to explain what the business does. When CV writing , focus on your main responsibilities and, most importantly, your key achievements. Keep it punchy and easy to digest. Start with your most recent experience.
Education and qualifications
Again just a key summary of what you studied, where and what you achieved. For example:
Education
1994-7 BSc Honours degree in Chemistry, Southampton University
1992-3 Brighton College , 3 A levels
1990-2 Weald School, Basingstoke, 7 GCSE passes
Other Qualifications & Awards
2005 Finalist for Online
Marketing Executive of the Year
2004 6 Week course in
web design through Chartered Institute of Marketing
2003 Customer Service
Excellent Award, Royal Hotel Group
Interests & Skills
Again keep this section of your CV really brief, for example:
Mountain climbing, travel, and current affairs. Fluent in French, basic Spanish
