The multinational, online retail giant will be combining two of their affiliates in one eight-storey building in London’s ‘Silicon Roundabout’.
Amazon affiliates ‘Love Film’ and ‘Push Button’ are being given the task of developing the next generation of television and film services. These new technologies will be fully interactive and available via a number of popular devices which connect to the Internet, including game consoles and tablet devices.
Boris Johnson, the Mayor of London commented, “We know we have the talent, the space and infrastructure to make the most of the digital economy – this will be my prime message during Games-time, as I seek to woo even more companies for the capital, delivering jobs and growth for Londoners.”
The ‘Amazon Digital Media Development Centre’ will have a more international view than the company’s American offices and is bringing together the best of online talent, software developers and engineers.
Amazon spokeswoman Paula Byrne said: “London is a hotbed of tech talent and testament to that fact is Amazon choosing the capital as the location for the new global digital media development centre.”
